Privacy policy
SendAPrompt
Effective October 28, 2026. This policy applies to sendaprompt.org (SendAPrompt).
Who we are
SendAPrompt mails a prompt you wrote to someone you choose, the way you might send a card to family. You write the prompt, confirm your email, add their address, choose when it arrives, and send it. This policy describes what we handle when you do that, or when you open your cards.
Information we collect
You give us:
- Your email address
- The prompt text
- The recipient’s email address
- When the prompt should be sent, if you schedule it
We also collect, in the ordinary course of running the site and delivering mail:
- A confirmation token for your address, and a session cookie after you confirm or log in
- Send status (waiting on confirmation, confirmed, scheduled, sending, sent, failed, or canceled)
- The IP address of a start, so we can limit how many sends one address begins in a day
- Standard server and security logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps)
How we use it
We use this information to confirm that you control the sender address, deliver the prompt to the recipient, tell you when it went out, show your sends on the account page, and keep the site from being used as an open relay. The message the recipient gets includes your address as Reply-To. We do not sell prompts or addresses, and we do not use them to train public models.
Payments
Sending a prompt does not ask for a card number. SendAPrompt does not store payment card details.
Cookies
We set a session cookie when you confirm your email or log in, so you can finish the send and return to your account. Pages also load Google Analytics (measurement ID G-TTZEGLNJT7). Google may set its own cookies and receive the page address, a truncated IP address, and browser details. Admin tools use a separate cookie and are not part of the public site.
Who else sees it
The recipient receives the prompt and your email address. We use service providers to host the site and send transactional email. They process information only to provide those services. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the site and the people using it.
How long we keep it
We keep the send record (addresses, prompt, schedule, and status) so we can deliver it, show it on your account, and investigate abuse. Confirmation links expire in 30 minutes. You can ask us to delete your account data; we will, except where we must keep a record of a send that already went out.
Your choices
You can request a login link from your cards page, cancel a send that has not gone out, or ask us to correct or delete your data. For any of that, email contact@sendaprompt.org.
Children
SendAPrompt is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
